Their story:
Gerard Way felt helpless after the 9/11 attack. He had witnessed the towers falling as he came back from his interview with Cartoon Network(The Breakfast Monkey) and began wondering where his life was going. To cope with his pain, he collaborated with his friend, Matt Pelissier, and wrote the song "Skylines and Turnstiles" about the disaster. This song inspired him to write more, and the songs soon evolved into My Chemical Romance. From humble beginnings as a small band from Belleville, NJ, they quickly became one of the biggest rock bands in the world.
They began recording their first album, "I Brought You My Bullets, You Brought Me Your Love" in 2002. Seeing as their second guitarist, Frank Iero, joined only days before recording began, he is only featured on a few tracks.
This band has not always had it easy. Gerard Way was abusing prescription drugs and alcohol, especially during the period after recording their second album, 'Three Cheers For Sweet Revenge'. With help from the rest of the band and their fans he sobered up and got clean, and has been for over 3 years now. Another change during this time was the replacement of Matt with Bob Bryar, who used to be the sound man for The Used.
'Three Cheers...' lead MCR to become well-known in the rock world, with the success of songs such as 'I'm Not Okay(I Promise)' and 'Helena', but in 2006 MCR became household names with the release of their third album, 'The Black Parade'. This album allowed them to become one of the biggest rock bands int he world, and the main track, 'Welcome To The Black Parade' became #1 world wide in the charts, almost unheard of for a rock band like My Chem.
In September 2006, MCR judged a local radio contest where the winning band got to open up for part of The Black Parade Tour.
Escape the Fate was chosen by My Chemical Romance.

"My Chemical Romance is a band that plays the kind of music they want to hear. A band with influences ranging from the 60's through present. They stand for equality and acceptance for whatever it is an individual wants to do or be. They have always believed that every human on the earth should be able to achieve whatever they set forth to do without using corruption, violence, force of meaning, etc. Opened-minded solutions lead to results of individuals. Fans at Projekt Revolution can look forward to seeing a band give everything they have into the set that they play. Blood, sweat, tears, physical exhaustion, and perseverance. All of these come into the everyday life. They not only do this for the fans, but also for themselves."
The band members are currently enjoying a well deserved rest after touring for The Black Parade for over a year and a half.
